Selby has welcomed a third new teacher this year, Torri Rank! We interviewed Mrs. Rank to get to know her better.
1. What is your name and what do you teach?
Torri Rank, I teach high school English, Journalism, and Speech.
2. Where did you go to school?
I went to high school in Sioux Falls, SD and I went to college for my Bachelor's and Master's degree at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD.
3. What brought you to Selby?
I came here in January 2021 for my final student teaching semester before graduation. Then, coincidentally, the high school English teacher position opened up here. So I decided to stay.
4. How are you liking it here?
I love it. I love the school, and the people here are great. It feels like home.
5. Do you have a favorite subject to teach?
My favorite thing to teach is poetry, because I love teaching students to tap into their creative minds.
6. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Most of my free time is well spent with my husband and my daughters (I have two toddlers). However, if I do get a free hour or so to myself, I’ll probably be watching Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter or something.
