The Herreid - Selby Area Wolverines defeated the DeSmet Bulldogs (16-14) to advance to the SDHSAA 9A State Championship Football Game on Thursday, November 11th at 1:00 PM. The game will be played at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 14 - 0 lead behind a solid running game. The Wolverines responded in the 2nd half, scoring on their 1st possession of the second half. The Wolverines would recover an onside kick and score again to take a 16-14 lead. The remainder of the game was a defensive battle with both teams stepping up and making big stops as needed.
The Wolverines will face the Howard Tigers (11-0) as the Tigers defeated the Wall Eagles, 21-17.
